Avi Schwartz was born in Bucharest, Romania.
He came to Israel in 1938 when he was 10 years old.
He studied at the Avni School of Art and was taught by Marcel Yanko, Mokadi and Stematzki.
He was later influenced by painter Zvi Shor and became one of his disciples.
His work, performed with excellent technique, manifests a rich internal world and true humanity. He regards with importance the way in which a figure is reflected and the manner in which the atmosphere surrounding it is expressed.
His works have gained a respectable place among museums and private collections in Israel and in other countries such as South America, Canada, The United States, Belgium and others.
